About Me

  • I'm Michael Chiou! I'm a Senior in Computer Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University. I've been programming since I was in elementary school and I excel at learning new skills quickly.
  • In highschool, I worked at Northwoods as a Full-Stack Web Development Intern, where I worked on their Traverse web app service using JavaScript, React, Ruby on Rails, and PostgreSQL. I also gained experience with teamwork and Agile Scrum while working there.
  • I'm currently working part-time as a web developer and IT Technician at the Central Ohio Tax Company (began in August 2022). Before I rewrote the company's whole website, I continuously updated their website with Wordpress to improve User Interface and User Experience. I rewrote their website to improve visuals, eliminate costs, and to reduce the website response time from 13 seconds to under 1 second using ReactJS (https://ohtx.com). On top of maintaining and optimizing 3 servers that I setup for the company's 3 offices, I also manage over 12 computers in a robust network between client, servers, and cloud services.
  • Concurrently, I started a 4-month internship at Lexon Corporation from May to August 2023 where I did software development on the company's core product: C.Core. I used Java EE, Oracle SQL, and AngularJS to develop a full-stack web-application and handheld scanner UI frontends. Since C.Core is tailored specially for automotive part manufacturers and OEMs, I helped onboard new clients with custom integrations, create new API endpoints, and develop features to help clients with logistics and shipping audits.
  • In my free time, I like to work on programming side projects, do weight training and biking, hang out with friends, and learn about new technologies!
  • Finally, I'm hoping to find a job opportunity in software engineering and programming when I graduate this semester!
